The World Simulation is a massive experiment in teaching Introduction to Cultural Anthropology launched in Fall 2004 by Michael Wesch and 400 students at Kansas State University.

Instructions for creating a World Simulation in your class

All of the materials posted here will be licensed with a Creative Commons attribution - noncommercial - share-alike license. In other words, let's all agree to give credit where credit is due and not use anybody else's material for commercial purposes without first getting their consent. No manual should be created from these materials and sold for profit. Of course, all materials are completely free for use in any classroom.

I think this would work well as long as all students wanted to be in the class, were willing to take it seriously and no individual was allowed to dominate the group and someone facilitated to ensure all students participated.

Great Concept....Harder to actually do in a class of 7 or 27 students. Great posibilities there.
